Jayuya…The city of Tomatoes…
Was called like that for the
quality of its tomatoes
Now is a coffee,
bananas and plantain country.
It also is Indian land, you can see many
written stones by the original Taino habitants.
The written Stone, lying on the Rio Grande River,
has petroglyphic prints
traced by hands of the Taino Indians.
All of them are related with the water
and the harmony of the environment.
The weather in Jayuya is fresh, smells clean.
The coqui sound will be in the entire route.
The cities have hundreds of
famous and recognized handcrafters.
The miramelinda flowers will smile to you in
all the roads. It’s a place in the middle
of the island with coffeeroasters, museums,
plantations, patriots and long revolutionary
histories. From Coabay Barrio you can see
Los Tres Picachos, 3,952 feet above sea level,
mountain that have a big Puerto Rican flag in it.
A resident climb to change it and is fun to climb
the mountain and camp for a day in the top.
Every year they celebrate in November
the Indian Festival and the Tomatoes Festival,
but every weekend there are activities and
good food in many restaurants of the area.
You’ll find music everywhere, jibaro music.
